Does Fontis sell health insurance?

No. Fontis sells an online support platform for Group HSA-based (Health Savings Account) health plans. The Fontis HSA Support System works alongside your HSA-qualified health insurance program. Is Fontis an HSA bank?

No, we're not an HSA bank, but we partner with leading HSA banks as a part of our product. When a company installs the Fontis HSA Support System, they'll choose one of our partner banks as the HSA custodian for their plan. HSA funds are handled by the bank, not us.

We hold our Partner Banks to a high standard: all Fontis Partner Banks are FDIC-insured, charge no set-up fees for their HSAs, and offer outstanding and competitive services. We believe the caliber of the bank is paramount to the success of the HSA program.

Is Fontis a Third Party Administrator?

Well, close—but not exactly. We are a "third party" and we do some "administration", but we don't fall neatly under this label.

Third Party Administrators (TPAs) typically help you administer an account-based health benefit like an FSA or HRA. They process claims and reimbursements, and provide some sort of debit card services.

The thing to remember about an HSA, though, is that you don't actually need a traditional TPA—there aren't any claims to process. Since HSAs are personal accounts, it's the account owner's responsibility to make sure they contribute the right amount, spend dollars on eligibile medical expenses, and so forth.

But we all realize that this control is a new concept for most employees. So Fontis "administers" all the stuff that makes it easy to use an HSA—like the education that teaches them how to use it correctly and how to be a better healthcare consumer.

Like a TPA, we (with the help of our partner bank) give them a debit card to access their HSA funds. But we also (and no TPA does this) help you easily administer an incentive plan, a complete online video education program, and a personalized health and wellness program.

With an HSA, who needs a TPA? All you really need is Fontis.

If your employer offers an HSA-based health insurance plan, Fontis helps simplify your plan and provide valuable assistance in getting the most from your HSA. Plus, we'll build a customized health and wellness program that's targeted to your specific health needs.

You'll need a health insurance agent to help you find the HSA-qualified health insurance required to offer an HSA (and the Fontis platform).

If you already work with a health insurance agent you trust, contact us, and we'll work with your agent to get you started. We offer agents valuable support in their business as well, so we're always looking to introduce our services to new agents.

What insurance carriers can I use with Fontis?

Any carrier you wish. We're independent, so we can work with any HSA-qualified insurance plan. And if you implement Fontis with one carrier, and then switch to another next year, our platform will still work seamlessly—giving your HSA plan a constant, recognizable functionality from year to year.

How is Fontis different than the carrier-provided wellness features I get from my carrier?

The Fontis HSA Support System provides a number of advantages over carrier-provided tools.

For starters, we're independent, so you don't lose all our great support tools when you switch carriers between plan years.

Secondly, we integrate all of our HSA tools into one easy-to-use portal for employees. The Fontis HSA Portal keeps employees coming back several times each month, where they'll find dozens of HSA resources and tools at their fingertips.

Also, no other carrier or HSA administrator offers anything like our unique Consumerism Education Library. This engaging collection of short online videos fills in the holes that other HSA education products leave wide open—topics like "How to Read an EOB," "Paying for Healthcare Before Your HSA is Funded, "The HSA Shoebox Rule," and "Preparing Your HSA for Your Taxes." With this kind of knowledge, employees become confident and comfortable with their HSA and adopt better consumerism practices in using their HSA funds.
